| The reason why I ask is because there haven't been any updates in a long time. Last I heard the Windows Mobile version was being developed. It'd be nice to know what's planned for the next PC version of Blade Engine as well. |

I caught a replay from her (hmm guess it was 12/29/2007). Seemed like BE Mobile at least was still on their to-do list, and I believe that BE (for-windows) is still active... though i could be wrong. Seems as though, they've merely been busy with some other project(s) and haven't had much time to get to the BE Mobile.
I am curious though about what kind of PDA/Pocket-PC/OS, Screen-Resolution, and Memory requirements the BE Mobile might end up having as approximate requirements. I have a couple iPAQ 3955's with a total of 63.18MB total memory for both storage and program use combined, SD flash memory expansion slot (for storage only)... RAM 64MB, ROM32MB, Display 240Hx320V (Colored). So i was curious if it would work on there. I've got one with Pocket PC 2003 (upgraded from 2002) and another with Pocket PC 2002 on it.
It's sad to see that much of the h/b-game and visual novel scene (english anyways) has been quite vacant the past half a year... aspecially with Hirameki Int'l seemingly calling it quits. But, at least there's still Peter to handle things, as well as a few lesser known areas for us to flock to for fan-translation projects and casual jp-h-game and v.n. talk. Way too much these days has gone to WIKI's.... _________________ ( IRC: DejaToons or Rizon )

Peter who? Peter Payne?
And it's true that the VN community might seem vacant right now, doesn't it kind of feel like the gaming community in general does? I mean, we just had Christmas a few months ago. I'd imagine that at the moment everyone's trying to either catch up or start on new projects since so many things get released in the 4th quarter.
I guess it's not too big of a deal that we haven't heard anything from Blade Engine staff yet since no completed games have been released that could benefit from a new version's features or upgrades, but I do admit that it does help plan existing projects when you can consider additional functionality.
So, how's your projects coming along?
I've got a little under half of the story finished for the game I'm making. Heh, I'd probably have more done if I'd spend less time polishing what I've already written. >_> |

It's very quiet in all cases to be honest, great to see you back on Highway99.
My end I'm still getting things together, but its all so ultra slow when working with lots of other people on a project... I'm hoping to have enough of the art put together that I'll be able to do a proper demo at Doujin Overload 2008. Sound wise it's not an issue as I acquired all the sound rights I needed this year, music is covered, and voice is not currently a concern just yet.
Hyperguy is right about story polishing, its slowing me down, but is definitely the best thing to do. After all, its not good if the story is overall great, but not presented in a really good coherent manner.
Now, on the VN community front, my friend has been buying in some direct from Japan, and when put through Yahoo Japan's far superior translation system they are quite understandable. It helps to see the professionals at work, and what they did to make things compelling. Its certainly helping me out with the requirements for animated cut scenes etc. |

Hehehe, just got a Dell Axim x51 with Windows Mobile 5 installed. I sure hope things are still coming along on the PPC (Pocket PC) version of Blade Engine. It can be so trouble-some to find decent Apps for a PPC, though a lot easier with WM5/6 than PPC2002/PPC2003. I finally tracked down ONScripter's PPC version after drifting through tons of pages for the right files, but am hoping to see BladeEngine-PPC so to have something in English with English instructions (or any syntax listing at all). I'm a bit curious though if B.E.'s ppc version will auto-size down graphics or if it'll have to images sized down manually... just a thought for sake of making a PC version into a PPC ready version quickly. _________________ ( IRC: DejaToons or Rizon )

At this point I think I'd be satisfied with more updates to Blade Engine for Windows.
Namely, automatic line breaks in dialogue boxes. Having to manually put in a line break or having words go offscreen really hurts production since it means having to either test each dialogue for proper line breaks or having to count how many characters on a line, both of which are tedious. |
